What Is Needed For Your Tornado /Hurricane/ Natural Disaster Emergency Kit (Checklist) how to Create a Emergency Kit
1.Get a weather radio. I prefer the crank radios so you can use them even if you don’t have power. You may have heard from me before that you should get weather radio and I still fully stand by that as my number one advice for weather preparedness. You may not be able to access internet, have power for tv, or have cell phone reception, but you can always crank up a weather radio to find out what is going on and where.
2.Know your families plan. Do you have a certain room that you need to go to? If somehow you get separated do you know where you are going to meet up and are there any ways to communicate with each other?
72 hour emergency kit supplies should be
This is a Check list
General safety - know your safe area, basement, closet, etc. It may sound dumb but purchasing cycle helmets with a face guard can save your life. Head trauma is the #1 reason people are killed in tornados. The face guard will also help with flying debris. Keep blankets and pillows in your safe area to cover your body and protect you from flying debris. If it's big enough, a spare mattress. A Sump pump for any water in the basement
Get a very large backpack that you can carry on your shoulders. Adapt to whatever you think you might need. Keep the bag handy to where you can grab it in a moments notice. You may want a separate bag for each person. Take into consideration you need supplies for ALL members of the family and it won't all fit in one bag. If you are hit by a tornado, you can't try to lug a large tote on wheels and it will probably be blown away. The backpack stays on your body.
5 Water bottles per person in your house
2 Energy Bars per person in your house
5 bags of Dried Fruit
Pain Reliever
Flashlight + Batteries (Or a Crank Flashlight)
a medium sized pack of batteries
Glow Sticks - Don't use candles. Gas leaks could be present.
Mylar Blanket
or two small blankets
a whistle
a permanent marker
a Copy of important documents birth certificates , Social security numbers important papers in a locked box
a small radio, preferably a self-powered radio
the best out there is "Eton" brand. It is self powered and you can get it at Walmart or Radio Shack. It has a weather broadcast, flashlight built in, emergency siren, alert light and it will also recharge your cell phone battery. Otherwise: Get a crank radio or battery radio with lots of extra batteries.
a plastic bag
a hand-powered can opener
Canned food
a few small plastic dishes and silverware
a cell phone
Duct Tape <- Trust me Duct Tape can save your life !!!!
a first aid kit
money (preferably small bills)
Book/ Reading material a Map is a great idea
a car charger for your cell phone
Extra shoes and socks in case you don't have time to put yours on.
medicines
a spare set of keys to your vehicle and home
a extra change on clothes for each person
anything you may need for pets food, medicine
anything you may need for children medicine teddybear
put this in a large bin in your house where you can easily Grab it and Go in an emergency
During tornado season: (remember they can happen in the middle of the night with no warning or you don't hear the warning until the tornado is on you!)
First Aid Kit This is the basics what you need
1. Antibiotic Ointment
2. Antibacterial soap
3. Burn ointment
4. Adhesive bandages of all sizes
5. Medical tape
6. Gauze pads and large surgical pads (bleeding may be an issue)
7. Tweezers
8. Scissors
9. Thermometer
10. Eye wash/sterile saline
11. Moist towelettes
12. Over the counter: Aleve/Advil/Benadryl
13. Several pairs of gloves
14. Household chlorine bleach and an eye dropper - dilute nine parts water to one part bleach it becomes an antisceptic/disinfectant. To decontaminate drinking water - 12 drops per one gallon of water. No fancy colored bleaches or other chemicals! Just regular bleach.
This all may sound silly but you may be without help for an extended period and possibly injured.

Survival Tip for Everyday living 40 Ways to Use Duct Tape for Survival
Duct tape can be a lifesaver. But carrying an entire roll takes up valuable space inside a backpack—and you probably won’t need that much tape. Instead, wrap a couple feet around a Bic lighter, so you always have a short supply inside your pocket
Even if you are a non smoker like me ~DAW~ Always keep a Lighter on you. you never know when it can Save your life
Why Duct tape?
1.Repair a tent: You open your tent at the campsite and oops — a little tear. No problem as long as you’ve brought your duct tape along. Cover the hole with a patch; for double protection mirror the patch inside the tent. You’ll keep insects and weather where they belong.
2.Make a rope: Twist one or several lengths of duct tape into a cord or rope. Of course paracord would be a lot better and you do have some of that, right?)
3.Make a clothesline: Twisting a long piece of Duct tape makes a great piece of rope to use as a clothesline.
4.Hold the feathers in your sleeping bag: If you have a hole in your down sleeping bag, you can patch the hole with duct tape. No more feathers flying out all over the place.
5.Reseal packages of food: Use duct tape to seal up partially opened packages of food. Fold over the top of the package and seal it tight with a piece of duct tape. Works for cans, too. Simply fashion a lid out of duct tape.
6.Hold your tent closed: A damaged zipper could leave your tent door flapping in the wind. Stick the door shut, and keep the bugs and critters out.
7.Splint a broken tent pole or fishing pole: Tape a stick to the broken area of your tent pole or fishing rod, and you might just get one last adventure out of it.
8.Catch pesky flies: Roll off a few foot-long strips of duct tape and hang them from a branch or your tent or cabin rafters. The DT serves as flypaper and when you depart, you can roll roll up the tape to toss it in the trash. No need to use nasty chemicals, either.
9.Repair your water bottle: Have a cracked water bottle or a pierced hydration bladder? A little strip of duct tape to the rescue. Be sure to dry the surface before you try to tape your patch in place since most forms of duct tape don’t stick to wet surfaces. You can also wrap plastic water bottles with duct tape to prevent cracking and leaking.
10.Make a spear: Strap your knife to a pole and you have a trusty spear to fend off beasts, or make one into your dinner.
11.Create a shelter: With some trash bags and some duct tape, and you have a survival shelter roof, or sleeping bag cover, a wind break, or well, there are kits of possibilities.
12.Wrap a sprained ankle: If you trip and sprain your ankle, wrap the ankle with duct tape to give it some support.
13.Make butterfly bandage strips: Cut two small strips of DT, and add a smaller strip across their centers (sticky side to sticky side) to create a makeshift butterfly suture.
14.Make a sling: Fold a length of DT down the middle, so that it is half the original width and no longer exposing a sticky side. Use the strap to make a sling for a busted arm.
15.Affix bandages: Place a sterile dressing over your wound, and strap it in place with DT.
16.Blister care: Cover the blistered area with a bit of cotton gauze, and tape over the cotton. Make sure that the duct tape fully covers the cotton and doesn’t touch the blister at all.
17.Create a splint: A broken ankle or leg can be stabilized with ample splint material, padding and duct tape. Pad the crotch of a forked branch with some cloth and duct tape to fashion a quick crutch to go with your splint.
18.Make a bandage: Fold tissue paper or paper towel to cover the wound and cover this with duct tape.
19.Make a temporary roof shingle: If you have lost a wooden roof shingle, make a temporary replacement by wrapping duct tape in strips across a piece of 1/4-inch (6-millimeter) plywood you’ve cut to size. Wedge the makeshift shingle in place to fill the space. It will close the gap and repel water until you can repair the roof.
20.Fix a hole in your siding: Has the stormy weather damaged your vinyl siding? A broken tree limb tossed by the storm, hailstones, or even an errant baseball can rip your siding. Patch tears in vinyl siding with duct tape. Choose tape in a color that matches your siding and apply it when the surface is dry. Smooth your repair by hand or with a rolling pin. The patch should last at least a season or two.
21.Tape a broken window: Before removing broken window glass, crisscross the broken pane with duct tape to hold it all together. This will ensure a shard does not fall out and cut you.
22.Mend a screen: Have the bugs found the tear in your window or door screen? Thwart their entrance until you make a permanent fix by covering the hole with duct tape.
23.Repair a trash can: Plastic trash cans that are blown over by a storm or frozen in an ice storm often split or crack along the sides. Repair the tear with duct tape. Just be sure tape over the crack both outside and inside the can.
24.Make a belt: Run a piece of DT through your belt loops and stick it to itself in the front. Overlap it about 4 or 5 inches and you’ll still be able to peel the belt apart when nature calls.
25.Repair your glasses: If your glasses break while you are out in the wilderness, tape them up. You might look a bit nerdy but at least you will be able to see.
26.Fix your rain gear: Keep the dry stuff dry, and keep the water out, by mending your ripped rain gear with a few strips of duct tape.
27.Repair your clothing: Repair rips and tears in your clothing by slipping a piece of tape inside the rip, sticky side out, and carefully pressing both sides of the rip together. The repair will be barely detectable.
28.Add extra insulation in your boots: Make your winter boots a little bit warmer by taping the insoles with duct tape, silver side up. The shiny tape will reflect the warmth of your feet back into your boots.
29.Hem your pants: No time to hem your new jeans? Fake it with a strip of duct tape. The new hem will last through a few washes too.
30.Make handcuffs: Create handcuffs for the bad guys by taping their hands together around a tree to prevent them from becoming a danger to themselves or others.
31.Mark a trail: Use duct tape to blaze a trail or signal for rescue, especially if your DT is brightly colored or reflective.
32.Make emergency repairs on your Bug Out Vehicle: Repair leaking hoses, broken tail lights, windows that don’t stay and even bullet holes with strips of duct tape.
33.Hang perimeter or security lights: String lights around your camp with a rope make of duct tape.
34.Fashion a belt. When you are starving in the wild, and your pants start falling down, run a piece of DT through your belt loops and stick it to itself in the front. Overlap it about 4 or 5 inches and you’ll still be able to peel the belt apart when nature calls.
35. Mend shoes and clothing. You can skip the sewing class, if you have enough duct tape
36.Repair your glasses. The tape on your glasses my look a little nerdy, but at least you’ll still be able to see.
37.Attach shelter elements. Just a few trash bags and some duct tape, and you have a survival shelter roof, or a sleeping bag cover, or a wind break,
38.Make a spear. Strap your knife to a pole and you have a trusty spear to fend off beasts, or make one into your dinner.
39.Keep your tent closed. A damaged zipper could leave your tent door flapping in the wind. Stick the door shut, and keep the bugs and critters out.
40.Make a drinking cup. Some creative folding and sticking can result in a cup you can drink from

How to make a Rainbow Fan
I found this picture in an old album and thought this would make a great Project
I have no idea who the picture originally belongs to as its on too many websites to find the original source
plus none of them explain how to do this so I made a tutorial how to do this
this is a cute idea and easy
You need
a Fan
Screwdriver
Paint I recommend Krylon or Rustoleum spray paint any color you wish
Both Krylon and Rustoleum both make many colors including glow in dark spray paints
unscrew the fan guards
Simply paint the face of the blades of your fan (avoid painting the very edges) in the primary colors this summer and you'll have a beautiful rainbow effect while the fan is running then put the Guards back on
For Safety Reasons follow the instructions on the can of spray paint and always spray paint outside never inside.. and follow all safety measures

Neat idea for a kids room!!
For those looking for a bigger challenge or are more visually creative, you could paint patterns and combine colors within each blade. or try glow in dark paint too!!! Once the rainbow fan is turned on, it not only cools the room, but creates a fascinating pinwheel effect. Just make sure the paint is dry before you turn the rainbow fan on, lest you wish to clean paint drops off your face and walls.
Try the same idea for Ceiling Fans

Earth Day luminaries
They’re really a perfect craft for celebrating Earth Day, but would look great around the house pretty much any time of year!
Tissue paper luminaries, made from recycled or inexpensive glass jars and decorated with tissue paper, are easy to make and add a unique touch to your event’s decorations
Things You'll Need
Glass jars
Tissue paper in various colors to match your theme
Mod podge or glue, such as Elmer's brand
Glass of water
Paintbrush
Cup for mixing water and glue
Candles, such as tea lights or battery operated candles. The candles should be shorter than the vases or jars.
Newspapers or towels to protect work surface
Steps in Making Tissue Paper Luminaries
1.) Place newspapers or towels on your work surface to protect it.
2.) Mix glue and water. Mix one part glue to two or three parts water.
3.) Cut or tear pieces of tissue paper to create your design.
4.) Using the paint brush, paint the water-glue mixture on the part of the jar to which you will apply the tissue paper you had torn or cut.
5.) Apply the tissue paper carefully to the surface you painted. Stretch the paper slightly to reduce air bubbles.
6.) Paint over the surface of the tissue paper once it is applied to provide a protective surface.
7.) Continue cutting or tearing the tissue paper, applying glue-water mixture, and smoothing until your design is complete.
8.) Add lighting. Insert candles, either wick or battery operated, into each luminary.
Tips and Warnings
Reduce costs and waste by using tissue paper that had been used for wrapping gifts, and clean glass food jars. If you don’t have previously used paper, you may wish to look for discount tissue paper.
Using traditional flame candles can cause the luminaries to become hot to the touch, and flame candles may also start fires
so instead use Battery operated LED Lights and LED Candles
if you do use traditional flame candles please keep away from pets and small Children and use caution when handling and never leave unattended candle
you can also do this
