How to make Lady bug Stones

               Welcome to my View of the world, Through the Eyes of  the Ladybug
    
                      The Ladybug is known all over the world as a bringer of love and Luck

The Norse believed that the ladybug came to earth by lightning and was connected to Freya Goddess of love and beauty, abundance, desire, love, fertility and spring. Also Freya is the incarnation of wisdom and healing.
which in German still carries the "Goddess" in name: Marienkäfer. It is a symbol of luck, because of the red body together with 7 black points.

 so  Let us honor Spring and honor Freya  by making these wonderful Lady Bug Stones
                    This is an easy project and fun for all ages 

Things you'll need:
 Round rocks - any size will work, just a lot more effort the larger the rock

you can find Rocks Outside ( duh ) or at craft stores  but  I find the best flat round stones at the beach

Acrylic Paint – Red, black, white, yellow pink, blue (or your choice of colors) 

Brushes – Med and small flats, small round, liner 
Other – Chalk, pencil, optional felt circles and stylus 
 Plastic Googley Eyes ( optional )

 Clear glue
Clear Varnish spray 
Glitter ( optional )




1. Small round or oval rocks are the perfect shape for ladybugs. For this project, I used the larger 
rock. You can paint them yellow, orange, purple, pink, gold or just about any color you want. 

2. Now paint the smaller part of the half-moon solid black.

3. Once you have painted the body colors, draw a straight line down the center of the body.

4. using a pencil draw round circles on each side of the line. Some large, some small.
or you can do random dots  or use your finger tips to give a personal approach

5. Fill in the small and large circles with black paint. Let dry

6. Glue the Googly Eyes on ( optional you can skip this if you wish )
you can paint white eyes with black dots for eyes it is totally up to you
spray  with a clear coat of varnish    if you wish to add glitter  now is the time to add glitter  I would sprinkle a pinch of glitter  on the lady bug stone and spray the clear coat sealant to keep the glitter on

Place your ladybugs in gardens, flower pots or gift them to someone you love. Enjoy!
